A Maryland State trooper was injured just before midnight Friday by a hit-and-run driver who smashed into his marked cruiser on the inner loop of the Baltimore Beltway at Park Heights Ave. State police said Trooper C. Smith suffered back and neck pain and was treated at Greater Baltimore Medical Center after the incident, which occurred at 11:58 p.m. He was sitting in his cruiser on the shoulder, police said, when a dark car, possibly a Honda, hit it from the rear and drove away. The car would have damage to its left front side and is missing the driver-side-door mirror, police said. State police said Smith was treated and released.
