Severn man killed in 3-vehicle crash

Baltimore Sun

A man was killed near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport early Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle collision, a Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman said. MdTA Police responded about 12:40 a.m. to a report of a crash on Aviation Boulevard between Amtrak Way and Stoney Run Road, said the spokesman, Sgt. Jonathan Green. Based on preliminary reports, investigators believe a southbound Jeep Wrangler veered into oncoming northbound traffic, he said, first striking an Isuzu Trooper and then a BWI shuttle bus, which had no passengers aboard. The Jeep driver, Richard Haber, 63, of Severn, was pronounced dead at the scene, Green said. The bus driver, Sheila Gardner, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Green said, where she was treated and released. The Isuzu driver, Maher Hassan Alzain, was not injured, the sergeant said.
