Truck hits pedestrian on I-95, causing traffic backups

Two lanes of Interstate 95 north in Baltimore were closed after a pedestrian was struck by a dump truck just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The driver of the truck carrying gravel also suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hopkins Bayview.

Two northbound lanes had been closed near O'Donnell Street, said Sgt. Jonathan Green, a spokesman for the Maryland Transit Authority. Police were able to talk to the pedestrian, but have not determined why they were walking on the highway.

The lanes were reopened around 7:20 p.m.
