One man was killed and a second man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries in an auto accident early Saturday that closed Route 100 in Anne Arundel County for more than three hours. At 6:29 a.m., rescue workers were called to a collision on eastbound Route 100, just west of Telegraph Road, near the MARC system's Penn Line, according to Division Chief Michael Cox. Ndukwe Ibisi, 39, of Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 36-year-old Ogbonnaya Chibuzo Obi of Elkridge, was in stable condition Saturday night after being flown by medevac helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The vehicle went off the road and fell about 35 feet to the train tracks below, with crews taking roughly 20 minutes to free the two victims, Cox said. Anne Arundel County police said the driver swerved to avoid a westbound vehicle he believed was about to cross the median strip. A preliminary investigation found that slippery road conditions and driver error led to the accident, police said.

Man killed in single-engine plane crash in ArundelA man was killed Saturday afternoon when the single-engine aircraft he was piloting crashed near Lee Airport in Edgewater, Maryland State Police said. The man's Beechcraft Bonanza P35 crashed into the yard of a single-story home at the end of Warehouse Creek Lane, according to Anne Arundel County fire officials, who responded to the scene. The plane was registered to Joseph Kelly of Annapolis, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The crash was reported about 4:20 p.m., and the airplane was on fire when Anne Arundel firefighters arrived. FAA officials were at the scene Saturday night, the spokesman said.
