Delta flight makes emergency landing Sunday night at BWI

Baltimore Sun

A Delta flight from Orlando, Fla., to Hartford, Conn., made an emergency landing in Baltimore on Sunday night because of mechanical trouble, according to a spokesman for the airline. While Delta flight 1478 was in the air, the pilot saw a warning light indicating an inconsistent pitch, or angle of flight, response on the aircraft, and chose to divert to BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport, said Delta spokesman Anthony Black. The flight landed about 9:40 p.m., according to an airport spokesman. There were 142 passengers and five crew members on board, Black said. Passengers boarded a replacement aircraft and arrived in Hartford about three hours late, he said.
