Two men killed Wednesday in spate of city violence

Baltimore Sun

A man was shot and killed and another fatally stabbed Wednesday in Baltimore, marking three deadly attacks in a 36-hour period.

Adam Couther, 27, was stabbed in the neck in East Baltimore about 3:15 a.m. after he tried to break up an argument between his aunt and a man, said Detective Kevin Hagan, a Police Department spokesman. Couther was found in the 700 block of N. Lakewood Ave. and taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have detained a person of interest but had not filed charges.

Officers later responded to a call for shots fired in the 2200 block of Presbury St. about 12:30 p.m. and found a man lying on the sidewalk. The victim, identified as David Scott, 35, of the 1600 block of Thomas Ave., was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police know of no suspects or motive.

The spate of violence, which includes the fatal shooting Tuesday morning of a 21-year-old man, comes after an eight-day streak of no homicides in the city.
