Teacher's body found on grounds of Prince George's juvenile facility

The partially clothed body of a female teacher was found Thursday morning on the grounds of Cheltenham Youth Facility in Prince George's County, state police said.

The woman was identified as Hannah E. Wheeling, 65, of Bel Air, state police said.

Wheeling's body was discovered about 7 a.m. in the 11000 block of Frank Tippett Road in Cheltenham, outside the door of the Murphy Cottage at the school for delinquent youth, police said. According to Greg Shipley, a state police spokesman, she appeared to have been assaulted.

Maryland's Department of Juvenile Services runs Cheltenham, which houses about 100 youths awaiting trial or court disposition in Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties. The Murphy Shelter Program, also located on the grounds, houses about 20 youths who need court-ordered supervision but aren't deemed dangerous.
