Kensington water main break floods houses

Baltimore Sun

KENSINGTON - A water main break has knocked out water service to 27 homes in Kensington and flooded basements. The 8-inch main broke about 2 a.m. Friday at the top of a hill on Matthews Lane. It created a 10-foot sinkhole. Resident Ivan Fuss told WTOP radio that he had about a foot of muddy water in his basement. Kim Knox, a spokeswoman for the Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission, said water was restored to the homes in the early afternoon. She said the main was about 60 years old.
