Forecast: Cloudy, rain, high 89

The National Weather Service was calling for Thursday to be mostly cloudy in the Baltimore area, with a high near 89 degrees and south winds of 9 to 14 miles per hour. There is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Some of the storm could produce hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. Between a quarter and a half-inch of rain is possible.

Thursday night was expected to be rainy, with a low around 70 and light winds. There is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Between half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

A small craft advisory is in effect Thursday and Thursday night for the Tidal Potomac River and the Maryland Chesapeake Bay.

Friday is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 89 degrees and northeast winds of 5 to 8 miles per hour.

Friday night is expected to be increasingly cloudy, with a low around 75 and light east winds. There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
