Forecast: High 91, severe storms possible in afternoon

The National Weather Service was calling for Tuesday to be partly sunny in the Baltimore area, with a high near 91 degrees and east winds 5 to 9 miles per hour becoming southwest. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and then showers are likely after 2 p.m.

The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with possible rainfall amounts between a quarter of an inch and half an inch. The weather service is warning that a couple of storms could become "strong to severe" on Tuesday afternoon, with damaging wind gusts.

Tuesday night is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 74 degrees and west winds of 7 to 9 miles per hour. Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 p.m. There is a slight chance of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Wednesday was expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 94 degrees and west winds of 7 to 14 miles per hour. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

Wednesday night was expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 67 and northwest winds between 10 and 13 miles per hour.
