Ex-waiter in Laurel accused of selling credit card numbers

Authorities say a former waiter at a TGI Friday's restaurant in Laurel has been indicted on charges he copied and sold the numbers of 73 credit cards.

Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said in a news conference that 21-year-old Brian Keith Adams of Elkridge was indicted Thursday on 16 charges, including theft, identity theft, and conspiracy to commit theft.

Prosecutors say Adams carried out the scheme from December 2009 through April 2010. Alsobrooks says two Secret Service employees ate at the restaurant and later noticed that they had unauthorized charges on their credit cards. Authorities say the employees notified Secret Service agents in Baltimore, who began investigating.

Authorities say Adams is not accused of using the credit card numbers himself.
