Maryland trooper, driver hospitalized after 495 crash

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A Maryland state trooper and a motorist have been hospitalized following a car wreck in Prince George's County.

Police say the wreck occurred just after 8 a.m. on Sunday. Police say Trooper First Class Robert Cearfoss was parked on the shoulder of the inner loop of Interstate-495 monitoring traffic when Elwin Cedilloz, driving a Dodge Dart, veered off the road and struck the trooper's patrol car. Police say Cearfoss was trapped in his car and rescued by fire personnel who responded to the scene. Both men were taken to a nearby trauma hospital.
