State trooper hurt as armored truck hits cruiser along I-70

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say a trooper was hurt when an armored truck skidded into his cruiser and another vehicle parked along eastbound Interstate 70 near Myersville.

Police say Master Trooper Lester Leggett was knocked to the ground as he walked back toward his patrol vehicle after completing a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

They say Leggett was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Brinks armored truck, James Williams III of Essex, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Neither patient's condition was immediately available Tuesday.
