Three lanes of southbound Interstate 270 in Germantown have reopened to traffic after a multiple-vehicle collision that injured several people and was expected to cause major delays in the morning rush hour, authorities said.
The crash happened about 5:20 a.m. on southbound Interstate 270 near Middle Brook Road, Maryland State Police said. The highway was shut down for about two hours.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. There was a five-mile backup as of about 8 a.m., and police asked drivers to take other routes if possible. No additional details were released.
