Emergency roadwork, utility problems snarl morning commute

Emergency roadwork on MD 140 West at Mt. Wilson Lane has closed the westbound right traffic lane and westbound right shoulder at 5:31 a.m on Friday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Emergency roadwork on MD 170 North prior to Stoney Run Road has closed the northbound right traffic land and northbound right shoulder at 5:24 a.m., DOT said.

DOT added that two Wednesday roadway closures due to utility problems were also shut down on Thursday morning.

A utility problem on MD 45 North in Baltimore County between Sparks Road and Loveton Circle closed the northbound right traffic lane, DOT said. A utility problem on U.S. 1 South at Washington Boulevard closed the southbound right shoulder, DOT said.

The Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management reported a vehicle collision on Interstate 95 prior to the Fort McHenry Tunnel around 6 a.m. The incident blocked two right lanes, OEM said.

The Maryland Transit Administration said that MARC Train 840 (6:32 a.m. Washington Departure) was operating up to 25 minutes late. The train is waiting for Train 849 to clear after freight congestion at St. Denis, MTA said.
