A fatal accident that has closed all northbound traffic lanes on Interstate 95 in Harford County was among three incidents that prompted disruptions on local roads at 9:10 a.m., on Monday, according to the state and local officials.
Maryland Transportation Authority spokesman John Sales said that the fatal crash involved a box truck that turned over on the median between northbound and southbound I-95 at 7:53 a.m.
The crash had previously closed lanes in both directions while medevac crews were on the scene, but around 8:45 a.m., two of three southbound lanes and one of two southbound shoulders reopened, and northbound traffic is getting by on the northbound shoulder, Sales said.
The other two incidents occurred in Carroll County.
A disabled vehicle on MD 140 East at MD 97 closed the eastbound right turn lane and one of two eastbound shoulders at 8:55 a.m., DOT said.
Also the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said that a portion of Upper Beckleysville Road in the Hampstead area was closed Monday due to an accident involving a vehicle that crashed into a gas and electric pole, knocking down a utility line.
The incident that occurred at 1:30 a.m., has BGE emergency road crews on the scene. The vehicle crashed into an electric pole that fell across the roadway with about 300 feet of live wire, the sheriff's office said.
No word were reported on injuries, and the sheriff's office said that the road is expected to reopen around noon.
