Woman stabbed to death in West Baltimore

Several people involved in fight that left one woman fatally stabbed.

One woman was stabbed to death and another was injured in a fight that involved several people in West Baltimore early Saturday, police said.

Officers were on patrol in the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue at 1:15 a.m. when they saw several people fighting, Det. Jeremy Silbert said.

Two women sustained stab wounds, Silbert said.

A 36-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the abdomen was taken to a local hospital and died from her injuries, Silbert said.

A 30-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg, he said. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Investigators believe the victims were involved in an altercation with other individuals when they were stabbed," Silbert said.

Several "persons of interest" at the scene were taken into custody for questioning, he said.

He asked witnesses to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
