A Leonardtown man was killed in a car crash Saturday, according to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to an accident near Newtowne Neck and Rosebank roads at about 3 a.m. Saturday and found a Ford F-150 truck overturned in a ditch, the sheriff's office said.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, Barry Dale Whittington Jr., 32, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said. Investigators believe the truck was traveling northbound on Newtowne Neck Road before it ran off the road, traveling along a ditch before it struck a culvert and overturned.
Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash, they said.
