A 9-pound, 1-ounce charmer in a pink knit cap is likely to be the Baltimore area's first baby of 2015.

Little Lyne Charegho was born a scant three minutes after midnight Thursday at Sinai Hospital. She's the first baby of the family for her mother, Dounia, who moved to Baltimore from Morocco in 2014. The baby is doing well, according to Sharon Boston, the hospital's director of public relations.

The first baby boy of the year was probably born at Mercy Medical Center at 12:40 a.m. Greater Baltimore Medical Center's first baby of 2015 was a little girl born at 4:49 a.m., while a team at the Anne Arundel Medical Center delivered a 7 pound, 9 ounce boy at 5:01 a.m., according to hospital spokespeople.

Sinai was experiencing something of a birthing spree. As of 6:30 p.m., eight babies had been born at the hospital, Boston said.
