MTA adjusts MARC, commuter bus service for Pope Francis' Washington visit

The Maryland Transit Administration on Monday announced adjustments to MARC train and commuter bus service for Wednesday and Thursday during Pope Francis' visit to Washington.

Some MARC trains on the Camden and Brunswick lines will add an extra passenger car to carry 125 more riders each during Papal events. The trains normally carry between three and four passenger cars each. The Brunswick Line train No. 871, which normally operates only on Fridays, will also operate on both Wednesday and Thursday, the MTA said.

The commuter bus will operate a modified morning and evening schedule both days. Due to expected traffic congestion, the bus will provide service to five metro stations: Landover, Silver Spring, Branch Avenue, Suitland and Greenbelt.

Pope Francis arrives in Washington, D.C., late Tuesday afternoon. He will be in the nation's capital through Thursday.
