A Maryland Transit Administration Police officer shot an armed suspect in Northeast Baltimore late Friday, a spokesman for the agency said.
An MTA police officer shot the person in the right leg in the 5500 block of Harford Road around 9:35 p.m. The victim was being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Police did not disclose the person's condition or identify and would not say whether the victim was male or female.
The officer observed an armed suspect, and a struggle ensued, according to a statement from MTA spokesman Paul Shepard. The weapon from the victim was later recovered, he said.
Baltimore police are investigating the incident. A city police spokesman did not return a request for additional information Friday.
