P.G. Co. launches 'middle college' program for high schoolers

Students in Prince George's County will begin studying in Maryland's first middle college program for high school students to simultaneously earn college credit.

Prince George's Community College opens a two-week introductory session Monday for ninth graders in the college's new Academy of Health Sciences. It is designed to help students make a smooth transition from middle school to high school.

A middle college is a high school program on a college campus. This program will help prepare students to enter a college program in the health sciences field. It will provide require high school courses that are required for a Maryland high school diploma.

Students can earn up to two years of college credits.
