KNOXVILLE, Md. — Police say an 87-year-old man apparently killed his wife and son before fatally shooting himself in their rural, western Maryland home.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says deputies found the bodies of Johnie Richard Green and his 56-year-old son Mark in their Knoxville home about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The agency says 86-year-old Mary Caroline Green was found fatally wounded in a bedroom. She died later at a Hagerstown hospital.
Deputy First Class Carly Hose says deputies were sent to the home after Green called a family member and said he had shot his wife and son and was about to shoot himself.
Hose says all three lived at the house in the 600 block of Valley Road, about 60 miles west of Baltimore.
