Johns Hopkins University will raise tuition 3.5 percent this fall for its liberal arts and engineering students, as well as the student musicians studying at the Peabody Conservatory.
Officials said the university's annual budget for financial aid will rise by 5 percent to $88 million. The financial aid budget has risen 73 percent since 2009. The university also extended a recent fundraising campaign for endowed undergraduate financial aid that's raised $60 million so far with a goal of adding another $55 million.
Full tuition for the 5,400 undergraduates at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering at the Homewood campus will rise by $1,700 to $50,410 a year. Room and board rates at the Homewood campus — for a typical double room and 19-meal-per-week board plan — will climb 3 percent this fall to $14,976.
Tuition for the 300 undergraduates at the Peabody Conservatory will rise by $1,491 to $44,122.
