Man saved from brink of death after crash on I-83 near Ruxton, State Police say

Emergency responders revived a man on the brink of death after he was critically injured in a two-car crash on Interstate 83 South near Ruxton Wednesday morning, State Police said.

The crash happened about 10:07 a.m., when the white Dodge Avenger driven by the man crossed over into the opposite lanes of the expressway and struck a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said.

The man was hospitalized with severe injuries, police said. His condition was not known.

The woman driving the Jeep was shaken up but uninjured; she was taken to a hospital as a precaution, police said.

The crash caused backups in both directions as emergency workers responded. All southbound lanes of the highway were reopened by 11:45 a.m.; one northbound lane remained closed longer but was expected to be reopened in time for the afternoon rush, the State Highway Administration said.
