Suitland man gets 20 years for Laurel home invasion

A Suitland man was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison for his role in a home invasion last fall, according to the Anne Arundel County state's attorney's office.

An Anne Arundel jury had found Anthony Richardson, 30, guilty in April of burglary, armed robbery and other charges after a two-day Circuit Court trial presided over by Judge Michael Wachs.

The case arose out of an armed incursion in November, the prosecutor's office said, in which two men wearing masks, with at least one carrying a handgun, entered a Laurel home and assaulted the occupant. The suspects took more than $5,000 worth of goods and cash, including two television sets and three watches, prosecutors said.

Police traced a purchase made with one of the victim's stolen credit cards to an apartment leased by Richardson, the state's attorney's office said. Anne Arundel and Prince George's police searched the unit, and recovered a handgun and two of the stolen watches there.
