Hogan fills three vacant House seats

Gov. Larry Hogan appointed three new Republican delegates to the General Assembly Friday, filling House seats vacated by members moving on to a judgeship or to the Senate.

Michael Malone, a lawyer and former chairman of the Anne Arundel County Republican central committee, was named to replace former Del. Cathy Vitale, who represented the Severna Park area before becoming an Arundel Circuit Court judge in January.

Hogan tapped April Rose, a member of Carroll County's board of elections, to replace now-Sen. Justin Ready. Ready left the House last month to take the seat vacated by Joseph Getty when he became the governor's legislative director.

The third vacancy went to Washington County commissioner Bill Wivell, taking the seat left open when Andrew Serafini was sworn in last month to represent the county in the Senate.
