Arundel police say Millersville hit-and-run left pedestrian in critical condition

Anne Arundel County police are investigating a suspected hit-and-run incident early Sunday in which a pedestrian was left in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle.

Police said they were called at about 2:30 a.m. to area of Obrecht Road and Jumpers Hole Road in the Millersville area for a report of a hit-and-run collision. Officers reported that a man and a friend had been walking west along Obrecht Road when the victim was struck from behind by a car that continued going.

The victim was taken by Anne Arundel County paramedics to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries. Police said that as of Sunday afternoon, he was in critical but stable condition.

Police said officers canvassed the neighborhood and found a car that had damage consistent with evidence recovered at the scene of the crash. The owner was contacted and interviewed, but police did not disclose the vehicle owner's identity and did not report that any charges had been filed.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
