Garrett College student from Baltimore accused of stabbing classmates

A Baltimore student attending Garrett College in western Maryland is accused of stabbing two of classmates in the cafeteria during an argument Thursday afternoon, state police said.

Shamaine N. Moore, 19, of Baltimore, was charged with attempted second-degree murder and related charges after police say she allegedly pulled a knife out at the cafeteria at the Garrett County school.

Two victims were taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital for stab wounds. One has been released while the other was transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. for additional treatment.

Moore was also taken to Garrett Memorial for a laceration, and police said she was scheduled to be taken to the Garrett County Detention Center.

Police were called around 5 p.m. to the cafeteria on Mosser Road in McHenry, where they found the two victims. Moore had fled the scene but troopers later found her leaving one of the on-campus dorms and arrested her without incident, police said.

Moore did not have an attorney listed in court records.
