Police are investigating the killing of a 77-year-old Jefferson woman, who died shortly after she was found lying injured in the front yard of her home near Frederick Monday, authorities said.
State Police identified the victim as Lillie M. Morris, of the 5400 block of Burkittsville Rd.
A motorist reported seeing her shortly before 3 p.m. with trauma to her body, and she died as medics took her to the hospital, State Police said. Her body was taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy, and the manner of death has not been determined.
State troopers, along with Frederick County and Washington County sheriffs' deputies, searched the area unsuccessfully for suspects.
