2 adults, 3 children injured in Brooklyn Park fire

BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (AP) — Fire officials say two adults and three children ages 3 and under were hospitalized after a fire destroyed a home in Brooklyn Park.

The fire broke out around 4:15 a.m. Sunday at a home on Ballpark Road, Lt. Erik Kornmeyer of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department told media outlets.

A 24-year-old woman, a 25-year-old man and three children were injured, he said. The children are ages 3, 2 and 7 months. The 3-year-old was the most seriously injured. That child was in serious condition at Johns Hopkins Children's Center. The others were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with smoke inhalation.

One firefighter was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage to the home is estimated at $300,000.
