2 shooting victims involved in car crash; 1 dies

2 men were shot, then involved in crash in East Baltimore.

A black sneaker lay in pool of blood in the middle of the street next to a fiery wreck in East Baltimore Thursday. Two men had been shot inside a pickup truck before the crash, police said, and one of them died.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of Orleans St., between Dunbar High School and Douglass Homes at about 3:30 p.m. for the three-vehicle crash, police said. When they got there, they found the grisly scene, with bullet holes in the windshield and at least one window of the truck, and realized the two men inside had been shot.

Police said Friday they believe the shooting happened in the 700 block of North Eden Street, less than half a mile away. Officers found weapons inside the truck, Col. Stanley Brandford said. It's unclear how or whether those weapons were involved in the shooting.

Police identified the victim who died as Andre Clark Jr. of the 2800 block of Denham Circle in Cherry Hill. They did not identify the second victim, who was undergoing surgery at the hospital Thursday.

The drivers of the two other cars involved in the crash were not injured, police said.

Homicide detectives are investigating, and anyone with information is asked to call 410-332-2100.

The shooting investigation closed the block in the eastbound side of Orleans St., clogging rush-hour traffic on the city's east side.
