Officials are asking motorists to avoid the intersection of Security Boulevard and Woodlawn Drive in Woodlawn after the roadway was badly damaged in a water main break Friday afternoon.
A 12-inch main broke about 12:30 p.m., Baltimore Public Works spokesman Kurt Kocher said, and it briefly caused a waterspout high above the intersection.
The torrent of water badly damaged the roadway, Kocher said. One of two eastbound lanes of Security Boulevard remained closed early Friday evening, according to the State Highway Administration. Traffic disruptions are expected to continue into Saturday morning, Kocher said.
No information on water service outages in the area was immediately available, Kocher said.
