Clydesdale rescued by crane from ditch in Windsor Mill

A Clydesdale was rescued by crane after it fell into a ditch in Windsor Mill Wednesday morning, Howard County fire officials said.

The 7-year-old, 1,800-pound horse fell in the hole in the 8300 block of Johnny Cake Road just before 5 a.m., according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, which responded as part of a mutual aid agreement with Baltimore County.

A special operation crew and a veterinarian spent an hour and a half rescuing the horse — fastening straps and lifting it to safety. There were no injuries, fire officials said.
