One person was killed and seven others were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision in Caroline County on Tuesday morning, according to Maryland State Police.
Michaela D. Coulbourn, 50, of Preston, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2005 Cadillac she was driving drifted across the center line of Bethlehem Road about 8:30 a.m. and collided with the rear axle of the driver's side of an oncoming 2013 Ford bus, police said.
Rome E. Brittingham Jr., 68, of Denton, was transporting five people to an adult-care facility in the state-owned bus at the time. Police said he unsuccessfully tried to swerve to avoid the collision, and the bus was overturned on the roadway by the impact.
Brittingham, his assistant and all five passengers on the bus were taken to Easton Memorial Hospital. Their injuries were not described.
The accident remains under investigation, police said.
