The MARC Camden Line faced serious delays Monday evening after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a southbound train in Prince George's County, though the tracks were cleared and trains moving by about 8 p.m.
MARC train 855, en route from Washington D.C. to Baltimore, was involved in the crash just after 6 p.m. about a mile south of the Riverdale station, said Terry Owens, a Maryland Transit Administration spokesman.
Passengers on that train were still on board as county police investigated, Owens said. Three other trains were affected – two that had been waiting to depart from Union Station and another headed southbound into Washington.
Owens said passengers were encouraged to take the Metro to the station in Greenbelt, north of the accident, or to transfer to the Penn Line.
