All Saturday flights from BWI cancelled

No flights will depart from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Saturday, and cancellations will continue Sunday.

Travelers are urged to continue to check with their airline for updated flight information Sunday, said airport spokesman Jonathan Dean.

More than 80 flights scheduled for Sunday at BWI have been cancelled Saturday morning, according to the website FlightAware.com, which tracks flight delays and cancellations.

Dean said there are "preliminary plans to resume some operations Sunday, however that will depend on local weather conditions and the airlines operations."

Forecasters have called for the snow to ramp down early Sunday. A blizzard warning remains in effect through 6 a.m. Sunday.

Southwest Airline reported on its website at least 100 flights systemwide are already cancelled Sunday. The airline said service Sunday morning at BWI is tentative.

Dean said the airport's "snow team" continues to clear the airfield to prepare for when operations resume.

There were no reports of stranded passengers camping out at the airport Saturday, he said, because airlines had notified passengers in advance of cancellations.

"The terminal is very quiet this morning," he said.
