Five people, including two children, suffered burn and smoke inhalation injuries in a fire at a St. Paul Street apartment complex on Saturday morning, Baltimore City Fire officials said.
Department spokesman Capt. Roman Clark said firefighters responding to a report of a fire on the 2700 block of St. Paul Street at 9:46 a.m. discovered a blaze at a six-unit complex. One woman at the dwelling was transported to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center with serious but injuries that aren't life threatening, Clark said.
A family in a separate apartment unit — a mother and her two children — were transported to a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation, Clark said. An woman from another unit suffered a burn to the hand but refused treatment, Clark said.
The one-alarm blaze was placed under control at 11:02 a.m., Clark said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
