Baltimore police are investigating the death Saturday of a man in police custody.

In mid-afternoon, an officer noticed a man who matched the description of a suspect wanted for attempted murder, but when the officer approached, the man fled to a wooded area in the 4700 block of Old York Road, according to police. After police surrounded the area, the man surrendered. After being taken to the Northern District station, the man said he was having difficulty breathing due to a pre-existing condition.
