A boy died Wednesday afternoon when he fell from a pontoon boat and was struck by the propeller near Ocean City, police said.
The 9-year-old fell from the rented boat about 3 p.m. and he was struck several times in Sinepuxent Bay, Natural Resources Police said.
A passerby on a tour boat tried to help, but the boy died. Police did not release his name.
He was the 12th person killed while boating this year in Maryland.
