Bowie State hosts memorial for student slain on campus

Bowie State University is hosting a memorial to honor a student stabbed to death in her campus apartment.

Officials say the service Wednesday night is meant to allow the university community to celebrate Dominique Frazier's impact on the campus life.

Prosecutors say Frazier was stabbed to death last week by her roommate, Alexis Simpson, after the women argued about music playing from an iPod. Simpson's attorney calls the stabbing a tragic accident, but prosecutors say she had made a choice to end Frazier's life.

Simpson is being held without bail and has a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 14.
