State investigating after two detainees mistakenly released from Baltimore central booking

Four Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center supervisors are being investigated after two detainees facing drug charges were wrongly released on Thursday and Friday, Maryland's correctional agency said.

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said Cornelius Hayes, 36, was allowed to leave the arrest-processing center early Thursday morning even though Baltimore County wanted him detained.

Not quite 24 hours later, Jeffrey Bryant, 22, was also mistakenly released, the agency said.

According to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, neither man was facing charges for violent crimes.
