Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a pair of robberies in the western part of the county.
A delivery driver for Mr. Pizza told police he was robbed while preparing to make a delivery in the 1800 block of Sharwood Place in Crofton at 6:41 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
The driver said he placed a soda bottle on the roof of his car while he retrieved the rest of the customer's order. He turned around to find another man holding the soda bottle over his head, as if he were going to hit him.
The man reached into the driver's jacket and pulled out a bag of money, and the two struggled before the suspect ran off with the money and bottle of soda.
Police charged Aaron Michael Navarro, 20, of Kingsgate Drive in Crofton with robbery, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, two counts of theft of less than $100 and two counts of drug possession, according to court records. He was being held on $50,000 bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis on Thursday morning.
Then in Jessup, a Shell gas station was robbed at 4:30 a.m. on New Year's Day.
A clerk at the station at 2753 Annapolis Road told police a masked man pointed a gun and demanded money from the register before running away east on Annapolis Road.
Police did not find the suspect during their search but described him as a black man, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build and wearing a black mask, white hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes.
