A teenage girl was killed after being hit by a Jeep in Annapolis Friday, Anne Arundel County police said.
18-year-old Ajia Marketta Owens of Severn was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Owens had tried to cross Solomon's Island Road, running in front of two vehicles, according to police. The first managed to stop, but the second, a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, hit her, police said.
It was raining heavily at the time of the crash and Owens was wearing dark colored clothing and crossing while traffic had a green light, police said.
There was no evidence that the driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Johnathan Paul Shipp, was speeding or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said. Neither Shipp nor his passenger Stephanie Ann Casciero, 27, were injured in the crash.
