October fundraiser is first step in Bay Theatre revival

After losing its home on West Street in Annapolis earlier this year, Bay Theatre of Annapolis has found an ideal temporary home at Chesapeake Arts Center's 110-seat Studio 194 Theatre in Brooklyn Park.

The arrangement came at the invitation of Chesapeake's executive director, Belinda Fraley Huesman, and allows for Bay Theatre to host shows in November and January.

Janet Luby, Bay Theatre's artistic director and co-founder, said the company has an event scheduled even before those performances. On Oct. 30, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Bay Theatre will host a mini-fundraiser at Loews Annapolis Hotel, featuring hors d'oeuvres and cocktails and entertainment by two vocalists.

This event will help fund Bay's two upcoming shows. Tickets are $50 and are available by mailing checks to Bay Theatre Company, 1290 Bay Dale Drive, No. 335¸ Arnold 21012. Email Luby at lubyjanet@comcast.net for additional information.

On Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., Bay will host a Wine and Words event featuring a cast of professional actors reading "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" by Nora and Delia Ephron. Email bayatchesapeakearts@gmail.com to order free tickets.

Then, on weekends from Jan. 10-26, Luby will perform in a one-woman show, "Bad Dates." Tickets for that show go on sale after Oct. 15 through the Bay Theatre and Chesapeake Arts websites.
