A closure of the two right lanes of southbound Interstate 95 on Wednesday has ended with the completion of bridge deck repairs just prior to the exit for Route 32 in Howard County, according to the State Highway Administration.
The agency had originally warned the closure could last through the afternoon rush hour.
The closure, which began at 9:30 a.m., allowed crews to repair a "puncture" in the deck of the bridge, which carries I-95 traffic over a CSX Transportation railroad track, the SHA said.
Temporary repairs have been made in the past, but permanent repairs were needed "to prevent further deterioration," the SHA said.
The repairs were conducted during the day because warmer temperatures are needed for the pouring of concrete, the SHA said.
