Volunteering in Anne Arundel

Animal control

Volunteers are needed for hands on interaction with the animals, showing them to prospective adopters, assisting customers, answering phones, filing, photography and multi-media tasks. Chesapeake Arts Center

Volunteers 16 and older are needed to serve as ushers and at the box office for performances at the Hammonds Lane and/or Studio 194 theaters. Volunteers are also needed to help in the gift shop, with mailings and other activities. Information: chesapeakearts.org or 410-636-6597.

Food bank

SPCA help

Salvation Army

Volunteers are needed to drop off donations Mondays through Fridays for Salvation Army food pantries in Annapolis and Glen Burnie. Suggested items include nonperishable canned goods and boxed food; toiletries are welcome. Groups that hold food drives can make arrangements to have the food picked up. Information: 410-263-4091.

Sharing Foundation

New Year's celebration

The City of Annapolis needs volunteers who are familiar with downtown Annapolis for the city's annual celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Duties will vary and individuals must be people-friendly. The celebration begins at 3 p.m. and continues until midnight.Fireworks shows are at 7:30 p.m. and midnight.
