As a three-sport athlete at Towson High School, Maggie Schneidereith selected an avenue fewer and fewer high school standouts are taking these days.

The 2015 Towson Times female Athlete of The Year has no interest in playing in only one or two seasons, preferring to play throughout the school year instead.

The junior from Lutherville hasn't really thought about giving up basketball and soccer to concentrate on lacrosse, the sport the Johns Hopkins University recruit will play at the next level.

"A couple of my friends play three sports, but most of them focus on one or two," Schneidereith said. "I love playing three sports. I have done it for seven years. It keeps me busy and gives me something to do after school. I don't like coming home and doing nothing all day."

Schneidereith ranked among the lacrosse teams leader in assists and goals, was the top defender on the basketball team and played three positions in soccer.

"She is a real athlete," Towson lacrosse coach Jamie Giffuni said. "A lot of lacrosse players in this area are lacrosse players. But Maggie is an athlete, and that's why she is successful in all three sports she plays."

Schneidereith made the biggest impact this past season in lacrosse, leading the 9-3 Generals in assists (18) and finished second in goals (26) to University of Mary Washington recruit Hope Lockwood despite missing four games because of an Achilles' injury.

She also had a standout sophomore campaign, totaling 34 goals and 31 assists.

The 5-foot-6 Schneidereith committed to John Hopkins in December of 2013, choosing the Blue Jays over offers from the University of Florida and Princeton University.

"She is the leader of our offense and a very smart player for her age," Giffuni said. "Most of the motion goes through her. Her vision is second to none. She is really good at threading the needle, which is something a lot high school kids aren't able to do. "

Giffuni said Schneidereith is one of the most dedicated players she has coached in her six years at Towson.

"She just loves the game and has such a passion for it," the coach said. "It sets her apart from a lot of her peers. She is a special player."

Schneidereith, a quadruplet whose sisters Jamie, Lucy and Georgia also play lacrosse for the Generals, boasted some memorable games this spring, including a seven-goal and three-assist performance in a rout of Perry Hall.

Nothing, however, can top her outing against archrival Dulaney in which she produced four goals in a 9-8 victory over the Lions, pumping in the tying and winning goals in the last few minutes in the Generals' rally.

"Beating Dulaney on senior day was pretty awesome," said Schneidereith, who carries a 3.5 grade point average and was named a US Lacrosse honorable mention in early June. "That was the most packed I have ever seen our stadium. Everybody was just going crazy."

On the basketball court, Schneidereith had her breakout year in her third season on the varsity.

The combo guard was a top reserve for the 12-7 Generals.

"She was, I would say, our best defender," Towson girls basketball coach Rebecca Moyer said. "She had incredible footwork. She was good at boxing out and getting the rebound."

Towson girls soccer coach Matt Clifford loved Schneidereith's versatility in her first year on the varsity.

She started the season at forward, moved to midfield, then started three games on defense late in the season for a team that compiled a 10-4 mark.

"She is just a phenomenal athlete and probably one of our two best athletes on the team," Clifford said. "I really like her consistency. Even though lacrosse is her main sport, she is always giving 110 percent in soccer. I am sure she could play goalie, too, if I asked her."
