Baltimore County police are investigating a bank robbery and a shooting that occurred Feb. 20.
The Wells Fargo bank branch at 2100 York Road was robbed by a man who entered the bank several times before approaching and passing a clerk a note at 5 p.m., police said. The clerk gave the robber an unknown amount of currency and he fled the bank, police said.
As the suspect was leaving the bank, arriving officers tried to interview him, but he fled from them and ran into the path of a responding police car. He was struck by the police car and injured one of his legs, then was taken into custody in the unit block of Aylesbury Road and was transported to an area hospital, where he was in stable condition, police said. They said the suspect, whom they did not name, would be charged upon his release from the hospital and that he has two warrants from other jurisdictions for his arrest.
Police are also investigating a non-fatal shooting later that night. Police said the victim was getting out of his car in the unit block of Benn Way, when two men shot the man and tried to rob him. He too was taken to an area hospital and was exected to recover from unspecified injuries.
Police said they are investigating persons of interest, but that no formal charges have been filed.
