Cockeysville: Even in summer, Hunt Valley Rotary Club maintains busy schedule

On July 18, the Hunt Valley Rotary Club greeted former Baltimore Colt, Stan White as part of the club's guest speaker series. White played college football at Ohio State University, where he was an All-Big 10 and All-American selection.

Drafted in 1972 and retiring in 1982, he played for the Baltimore Colts and the Detroit Lions. White scored two touchdowns, both from interception returns and both for the Colts. The first was in 1973 against the Houston Oilers, the second coming against the New York Giants in 1975.

Since 2007, White has worked as a color analyst for the Baltimore Ravens' radio broadcasts, teaming with Gerry Sandusky and Rob Burnett. He also contributes to other programming on Baltimore station WBAL-AM.

The club meets on Wednesdays, noon to 1:30 p.m., at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn, 245 Shawan Road, Hunt Valley. The Wednesday, Aug. 1 session will feature Ross Stotesbury, an Eagle Scout, discussing his NCR trail project. After that, the club is planning for its annual picnic on Aug. 29.

The Stars won its meet on July 7 against Chartwell, and several members will participate this week in the Straehle Swim Meet on July 25 at Four Seasons in Hampstead.

After that, the team will compete in the Divisional Meet on Saturday, July 28, at Chartridge.

The team participates in fundraising with local restaurants in the area. They also enjoy a team pasta dinner, movie days, camp out and talent show, Hershey Park day, fun Fridays and more.

Keep up the great work and "go Stars!'
